Breeder or Producer

After, many telephone calls on the week end., I realized that many people didn’t know there was a difference between a breeder and a producer. Here is my explanation:

Breeder

The name says it, the breeder is a responsible disciplined person in charge of the cleanliness and the discipline of grooming the animals.. The pup is socialized ( put in touch with other people other animals), to be accustom to the noise and the normal comings and goings of a family. They are handled at approximately 2 weeks old when their eyes open, they get use to receiving the caresses of the humans.

The breeder knows each one of the pups because they live in their home with the family also they have one or two litters at a time. He isn’t a large producer as this would prevent the time needed to observe each pup.

The breeder worries about the wellness and their future happiness .An association with the owner and pup must be made and is essential for the future family harmony. All will be easier, the dog will correspond to your expectations and he will adapt naturally to his new surroundings. When you buy a pup it’s temperament you should be buying, the sex and the colour is only secondary. The breeder will worry and be responsible for the harmony which will be established between the pup and themselves. The breeder should inform the people well on their questions, and offer a follow up during the life of the dog. Whether it be on the methods to raising a well behaved pup or small health problems which do occur occasionally.

The breeder participates in the canine competitions, this is done in respect of the breed standard. He will breed to dogs that will bring improvement to his breed line. at these competitions we learn to recongize the solid breeding pedigrees, with good health genes and temperament. Of course, we are not safe from all, but put all chances on our side.

The producer

The producer does not love his dogs, he doesn’t worry for them. They are objects to him, they must produce many pups for him to collect money.

Myself, I have visited a puppy factory (mill) It is heart breaking. It’s revolting to see the lack of care these large producers have. Money is the only importance, it is a bad business. I ask you to visit the following site, it unfortunatly shows the unhappy reality, go visit: http://protectionanimale.com/usines.htm

The producer supplies the animals to the boutiques with out caring if its ill or having physical or behaviour problems it’s the money that counts with these people. A few weeks ago I groomed a female Yorkshire only 5 years old. She was given to this person reason the Yorkshire could no longer produce enough puppies. I am enclosing a photo, for you to judge….

Seeing the condition of this poor animal, ask yourself if a female like this could produce healthy pups ????
How can a civil society accept such cruelty, why is the legislation on animals not more severe? In the USA people are put in prison for ill treatment or serious negligence. The dog s used to produce the pups sold in boutiques will never see the sky, know the smell or touch of grass, nor the soft gentle human touch or love, the human producers should be made to spend one month of their life as they have obliged the dog to do. Usually the female will have pups from her first season to her last in unsanitary conditions. It is discouraging the attitude of certain human beings.

You have producers that announce themselves as « private family breeders. It’s not as dramatic as the large puppy mills, for their quality of life. Often the females are living in a family environment. The difference being that they don’t know the standard of the breed, don’t know the genetic health problems nor are tests done to know. Don’t know the correct discipline for the pups. They are often stuck with the pups so they are sold to the first buyer. They are unable to give important information on neither health character there’s no follow up nor a guarantee for the pup. The puppies are the ones that buy for this negligence. Take a pup place him in a family, perfect pup Take the same pup and place him in another family hell just broke loose. Where is the error????
Association owner and pup, that’s it… Basically they are good pups but the association isn’t correct this makes for unrecoverable errors, All dogs are good dogs there is just errors of association.

Don’t be afraid to question and visit the places. Demand to see where and under what conditions are the pups. What are the competence of this person.. Don’t buy on impulse you will likely regret the purchase, this pup will live to a ripe age of 13 years or more… Think about it…

Please, be careful to not encourage these establishments, denounce them to veterinaries they will help in closing these “puppy mills”

Do your part.for the love of dogs please I hope that this helpful to you and to future owners

Let us protect our four legged animals, that do not have the ability to speak.
